ITC Kakatiya is hosting Dastakhwan-ul-Mulq under the aegis of Kitchens of India – ‘Royal Repasts’ inspired by the lavish feasts savored by the kings of Hyderabad, Their master chefs at ITC Kakatiya have embarked on a research spree sourcing and culling out recipes amongst a treasure trove of culinary repertoire amongst the gourmands within the city.
Chef Paul who personally welcomed us, was kind enough to tell us all about extensive research on right spices and have gone out of their way to include some local gourmands to get the authentic flavor just right. Dastakhwan-ul-Mulq as the name suggest is lavish and by all means authentic hyderabadi cuisine form the era of Nizams. I was famished even before he could even finish with all the details. While we waited the feast to begin, we were served ‘Pudina Nimbu paani’ in khullad (well i really doubt if Nizams ever drank anything below their ‘chandi ke glass’ but it was refreshing and the rains outside just made it a perfect drink for me)
We were in for a real treat with dishes like deliciously scintillating ‘Nizami murgh’, ‘ Talla gosht’, ‘Galouti Kebab’ ‘Dakhni Murgh’ ‘Keema Kaleji Soya’ and ofcorse the world famous ‘ Haleem’. If you follow me on Instagram you know i was travelling during Ramzaan, so let’s just say i missed all the Eid specials- form Haleem to sheer khorma, iftar parties to Eid get-together. This food festival which was in ode to holy month of ramzaan designed in a way that Hyderabadis could enjoy an extended dose of festive food, and must i saw, i took pleasure in it the most. I would definitely recommend you to try ‘Talla gosht’ and mouth melting ‘Galouti Kebabs’ also do try their ‘Dakhni Murg’ with naan or rot.’ Haleem was something i was really looking forward to but, must say i was disappointed, it was too solid and thick, there was nothing mouth melting about it. In desserts must must try the mandatory ‘Sheer Korma’ Shahi Tukda’ and ‘Double ka Meetha’. Hyderabad, best places in Hyderabad
Enjoy while it lasts, and book your table tonight before this limited period food festival winds up.
