I was in Jaipur just a couple of months back, and in spite of spending good leisure time, I was longing for more. All of a sudden, there were too many things happening, all leading the way to Jaipur. My cousin was getting engaged, the Jaipur Literature Festival (that has been on my list forever) was happening around the same weekend and my girlfriends needed a vacation. The end result was a weeklong trip to Pink City.

I always like to start my holiday on a grand note and end it on more relaxing one. So I had planned to spend my day at Sujan Rajmahal Palace Hotel, which involved an elaborate lunch at the all new ‘Rajmahal Café’, tour of the palace that offered a glimpse into royal grandeur of maharajas followed by High Tea (well coffee for me) at the mesmerising turquoise ‘Collonnade’.
The Rajmahal Cafe

Sujan Rajmahal Palace Hotel is every bit opulent as the name suggests. Once home of maharaja, the design post refurbishment will make any present day royalty drool, leave alone us common admirers. Colours and design rule all over the place, from wallpapers to geometric patterns, flowers that bloom under chandeliers, effervescent colour play in different rooms, all of it will leave you enticed.

The palace, from housing royal guests like Queen Elizabeth II and Jackie O, has witnessed a history of its own, which can been seen in form of memories all around the place especially in its 14 flawlessly done luxurious suites

A walk around the stylish art deco garden and pool, while watching the staff dressed crisp in white with candy colour turban, makes guests feel no less than royalty. Have a drink at polo bar or spend some private time over a meal at ‘Orient Occident’, there is something for everyone

I left my visit to 51 shades of pink for next time, because you can’t come to a ‘palace’ like this and never come back again. So next time you plan a visit to the pink city, don’t just take a holiday, experience the exclusive access into luxury and regality at Sujan Rajmahal Palace Hotel
