Hemp is getting a lot of attention of late because of its perceived health benefits. Hemp’s complicated history may be discouraging for people who want to reap the beneficial aspects of this plant. But here is my attemt to make it simple for you – Hemp, also known as ‘industrial hemp’, is a non-psychoactive variety of cannabis Sativa and historical records trace its origins to the Himalayan region in Asia. My first conscious consumption of infact this year, when i traveled to Binsar, Himachal Pradesh where my taste buds lead me to try the local cuisine- part of which was bhan ki chutney. I was curious to know more, i was educated by locals on how it has been part of the land and it’s food forever. I researched, spoke to brands and found it was available in abundance and in all ways possible gifting us with all it natural benefits.
Hemp can also be a bit confusing—how is it different from marijuana? Hemp comes from the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa, which is a variety similar to the marijuana plant but very different in terms of the compounds it contains. Marijuana contains relatively high levels of THC, the compound responsible for the mind-altering effects of the plant. While hemp is a related plant, it has very low levels of THC. (It needs to have less than 0.3 percent THC to be grown legally.) The flowers, stems, and leaves of the hemp plant, however, do contain CBD. CBD is a compound thought to have health benefits but without the mind-altering effects of THC.
Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is cultivated for making a wide range of products including foods, health products, fabric, rope, natural remedies, and much more. The various parts of the hemp plant are used to make different products.
Here is how you can include Hemp in your daily life through application and consumption
Hemp seeds, Hemp hearts, Hemp flour
Hemp Seeds are edible and are considered highly nutritious with a high concentration of soluble and insoluble fiber, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids for heart health and skin health. Hemp is grown for non-drug use because it contains only trace amounts of THC (the psychoactive component of the marijuana plant that is responsible for getting a person high). The seeds can be pressed to create hemp seed oil or ground up and mixed with water to create hemp milk. Hemp hearts, have a very high anti-oxidant effect and are believed to improve heart health and reduce symptoms of ailments related to skin and joints. These seeds can be added to your meals as a whole or consumed in the form of powder for a well-balanced diet. Toss them into smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, salads, soups, stews, dips, and dressings, or using them in baked goods like muffins. Hemp flour results from removing hemp oil from hemp seed.
HEMP Magic Potion is packed fresh into zero waste glass bottles which can be reused or recycled completely. This Hemp potion can be used as hair conditioner, skin moisturizer and can also be consumed in salads and more. Studies found that hempseed oil may improve dry, itchy skin and help symptoms of eczema, reducing the need for prescription medication

Hemp Seed Oil (also called hempseed oil) comes from the seeds of the hemp plant; it is made by cold-pressing hemp seeds. Hempseed oil differs from CBD oil in that CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis plant and then combined with a base oil (such as coconut, MCT, or olive oil). Hempseed oil, which comes from the seeds only—and not from a hemp variety of the Cannabis plant itself—does not contain any psychoactive properties (such as those from THC which cause a person to get high). Hemp oil has incredible health benefits and is used in foods for its high level of healthy nutrients such as -Proteins, Essential fatty acids (EFAs), Minerals (such as zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, and more), and Antioxidants (such as Vitamin E). Hemp oil can be used as a cooking oil and, just like any other type of healthy oil, can be added to foods such as salads, dips, and spreads.
