Sometimes mind can contradict our own thoughts, i used think if you love fashion, its difficult to walk on path of sustainability; but then again, with time, i ask myself, if i truly respect the fashion i love.

I have never cared about fashion rules, i have always loved wearing colors i like, trends i adore (no matter how yesteryear they are) so trying to give up on fast fashion isn’t very hard (but i am just getting started). Not caring about trends doesn’t mean i am not aware of them, and being a 90’s kid, last decade i have only seen trends come back and nothing majorly fresh, a lot of reinvention, yes! but then again its a very personal opinion.

The only trend i have been trying to get in line is to buy thoughtfully and keep up the main aim- comfort and style. This dress i got from Doodlage is every bit of style and comfort and can easily go from work to brunch, movie date to a vacation outfit.

Doodleage was born from a simple idea—to create unique, environment friendly products, that are high in style. Everything at Doodlage is made with love; every piece they make is exclusive and unique.

Doodlage is a perfect sync of sustainability and innovativeness. They work with eco-friendly fabrics, such as organic cotton, corn fabric, banana fabric. Another source of fabric is the left over or quality, discarded textile from large manufacturers, which account for the “wastage” in export terms. They also source fabrics, which are left unused by other retailers post-cutting. Much like pieces of a puzzle, these bits and pieces come together, each with its own story. As a brand they love experimenting with textures, embroideries, panels, washes, shapes and sizes to optimize the use of every little .

Ikea Hyderabad – A Preview

IKEA, the world’s leading Swedish home furnishings retailer opened its doors of its Hyderabad store today for a media review, before it opens officially tomorrow for public. I was lucky to be a part of the preview and get a first-hand experience of the place.

IKEA has been sourcing from India for its global stores for more than 30 years. Its plan to open retail stores in 40+ cities across the country, reinforces its long-term commitment and deep connection with India. IKEA sets out to become a truly unique, meaningful and trusted brand in India, making every day brighter and better for the many people and this dream seems closer to reality today as we wait to see what the Hyderabad store will offer.

The store is 4,00,000 sq. ft. large and is spread over 13 acres in the heart of Hyderabad’s tech hub HITEC City and promises to be a ‘fun day out’ for the family. At present it promises to offers 7,500 affordable, good quality, value for money home furnishing products, all under one roof. The store will remain open 365 days from between 10.00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

The IKEA store in Hyderabad is full of ideas, inspiration and solutions. They have exhibit of 2 full homes that reflect life at home in Hyderabad, besides different room sets based on different parts of the home like bedroom, kitchen, children’s room and living room. It also has a market hall where you can find home kitchen utensils and accessories, textiles, rugs, lighting, decoration, stationary and even live plants.

The store also has a 1,000-seater restaurant, IKEA’s largest and possibly India’s largest restaurant, a café that offers coffee, bakes, frozen yogurt and many more for purchase, a kids’ play area named Småland where customers can leave their children safely. The IKEA restaurant will offer 50% Swedish specialities like salmon and chicken and vegetarian meatballs and 50% local delicacies like biryani, samosas, dal makhni in the case of Hyderabad. The food will be very affordable, for example a plate of samosas will cost Rs. 10/-

What is also fascinating : The IKEA store employs 950 co-workers in Hyderabad directly and 1500 indirectly in services and expects to host close to 7 million visitors each year. IKEA has a non-negotiable commitment to hire 50% women co-workers at all levels in India including forklift drivers and assembling co- workers. It will also come with a strong and affordable service offer including delivery and assembly to help customers who are not familiar with the DIY (Do it yourself) concept just yet!

Verdict: You won’t step out without shopping something, I got candles, cushions glassware, salad bowls and coffee mugs. I would definitely recommend you to put on your walking shoes, because there is a lot of walking and no mid exits. You don’t even have to wait in the billing Que, because they have option of self-billing- make life easy doesn’t it? The products are practical and so well styled, you will get an idea about what product can be styled at which part of the house. I really think the setups and representations is going to give consumers a good idea on what they can do with their space in most practical yet stylish way.

Dark Florals – Trending this spring

Anothet season of spring has arrived abd with it has come time to let go of layers, knits and jackets (well they will be out, for one more winter holiday, watch this space for something exciting coming soon) and make way for the all new trends and colours. Spring fashion doesn’t have to burst with zesty shades — instead, look to dark florals, Victorian blouses and embroidered denim.

I am really looking forward to wear a lot of florals (obviously), lavenders, corals, embroidered denims, oversized everything and off shoulders. I think even sheer dresss and shirts are going to be huge this season. Midi length dress, dungress, and lot of prints on prints- really excited to try this on.

This dress from H&M is something that i have already worn 6 time ssince i bought it last month from tehir new store in Jubliee Hills. The print, the vinatge vibe of the dress, the ruffles and and sleevs.. what is not not to love about this dress.  From day to sexy date night, this dress is perfect for nay occasion.

Florals are something i really love investing in it, its like a timless piece of fashion and anyone can carry it off.  There is never too much of it and i can’t wait to flaunt more of this trend not just through spring but hopefully through the summer.

Heavenly Spa at The Westin Hyderabad

Spa for most of us means a place where you get a massage. Which is actually not the case and at Westin Hyderabad, Heavenly Spa shows us why. The concept at Westin’s Heavenly Spa is to create a complete wellness experience.

I was invited over the weekend to indulge and review their signature heavenly massage. My therapist for the day led me to their massage room, and once I was ready she began with soaking my feet in warm water using mineral salt to cleanse them and began with my treatment. She used apple pie oil that gave extreme moisture to my winter dry skin. I drifted into Zen mode as she began with my concentrated (focus) area with required pressure to relive stress and have a more enhanced blood circulation in my body.

The pressure was just perfect and exactly what I needed after a long week of work, I enjoyed every bit of it.  As the warm oil seeped into my body I could feel my aches slowly fade away and enter a state of absolute bliss. This goes over an hour and my masseuse slowly kneads on my muscles combining that with gentle strokes. The last 10-15 minutes she spent massaging my face and head. More like pressing the correct pressure points and releasing stress and it was followed by a facial.

I opted for the ‘Illumination’ facial. It is curated to bring back glow to your face. The active ingredients and cooling gel mask brighten up the skin by treating the hyper pigmented areas. This again was an hour long treatment that was done using the ‘Comfort Zone’ products winding up with a pack followed by a serum to keep you skin glowing and hydrated.

At Heavenly Spa you can always add-on, facilities like body scrubs, steam and Jacuzzi right in your room (on additional basis).  The post therapy part included, being escorted to a quite dim lit, waiting area where I relaxed, breathing in an amazing experience I just had while sipping a hot  cup of green tea with some dark chocolates and walnuts for a quick a boost.

The Rajmahal Cafe , Jaipur

sujan raj intro
Sujan Rajmahal Palace, Jaipur

I was in Jaipur just a couple of months back, and in spite of spending good leisure time, I was longing for more.  All of a sudden, there were too many things happening, all leading the way to Jaipur. My cousin was getting engaged, the Jaipur Literature Festival (that has been on my list forever) was happening around the same weekend and my girlfriends needed a vacation. The end result was a weeklong trip to Pink City.

Sujan Rajmahal Palace, Jaipur

I always like to start my holiday on a grand note and end it on more relaxing one.  So I had planned to spend my day at Sujan Rajmahal Palace Hotel, which involved an elaborate lunch at the all new ‘Rajmahal Café’, tour of the palace that offered a glimpse into royal grandeur of maharajas followed by High Tea (well coffee for me) at the mesmerising turquoise ‘Collonnade’.

Sujan Rajmahal Palace Hotel is every bit opulent as the name suggests. Once home of maharaja, the design post refurbishment will make any present day royalty drool, leave alone us common admirers. Colours and design rule all over the place, from wallpapers to geometric patterns, flowers that bloom under chandeliers, effervescent colour play in different rooms, all of it will leave you enticed.

Staycation at Novotel Hyderabad Airport

Ah vacation.  How many of us don’t sometimes wish we could escape the hustle, bustle, & day-to-day responsibilities of our normal lives for a week of fun and relaxation somewhere far, far away? But There’s nothing better than a staycation when you don’t want to splurge on air tickets or you don’t have time for a long vacation or waste time commuting, and yet enjoy unwinding in luxury for a few days.

Between restaurants, hotels, and transportation, travel costs can add up fast especially when those costs are multiplied for a family.  But that doesn’t mean when vacation time rolls around you can’t still have a great time! This year, why not plan a vacation in your own city?  A true Staycation is more than just a week at home; it is an intentional time of fun and relaxation for your whole family.  It does take a little effort to do it right, but can ultimately be just as satisfying as going somewhere far away.

I spent my extended weekend having an amazing staycation with my mom. Between work, I hardly get time to spend with her. When Novotel invited me for an experiential review I knew my mom would be a perfect company.

Hotel: The hotel is strategically situated in Hyderabad to accommodate both business and leisure travellers. It is well connected to the International Airport and the location makes you feel like you are away from the city, amidst endless greenery and fresh air. I began my staycation from the very beginning, how? Well by giving up driving and stress of traffic, we opted to choose to travel in car by the hotel and enjoyed our long drive. The fact that it crosses the long stretch of airport road really made me feel as if I am travelling away.

Room:  Our room had a pool view with a sky that often witnessed landing and taking off of flights. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in complete relaxation. Their full menu of activities and services helped me meet my travel goals, whether its productivity, fitness, relaxation, or simply wellness of being, just lazying around in front of your TV screen, with room service pampering you endlessly. Novotel is perfectly away from the city offering a cosy abode to unwind in.

Culinary experience: Take a culinary trip around the world without leaving your hotel.  Novotel Shamshabad offers a unique dining experience that will delight even the most discriminating palettes. From traditional Indian dishes from the Northwest frontier, to the vibrant flavours of Italy, their restaurants, cafés and lounges showcase the best of global cuisine in inspiring settings.

End the day with a nightcap at the bar or by the picturesque poolside, I loved my Vietnamese coffee that was a perfect end to a long yet relaxing day.

Indulgence:  Soak yourself in a therapeutic massage or sip a cocktail in style at the bar or by the pool, where you can enjoy your beverage between laps. well i opted for both, a spa for a much needed pamper session of an Ayurvedia Indian therapy follwed by dinner and drinks by the pool.

Just a button click away lies your weekend of eternal bliss. All you have to do is pack an overnight bag and take off!

Elle Spa at Lebua Resorts

Lebua Resort is a luxury all in one destination, and nothing says luxury to me on a holiday than a good spa. Walking up and down the forts all day, visiting all beautiful places does take a lot of steps. So I was grateful when the staff informed us about our pampered evening at their in house spa followed by a dip in pool and snacking.

The 20,000 sq. ft. Elle Spa is a quiet and meditative place with 10 treatment rooms, 2 rooms designed for couples, one relaxation room, yoga studio, steam room, Jacuzzi and gym. There are several options to get pampered with Indian and Mediterranean treatments and massages to restore the balance of forces within your body.

le bua 8

I opted for their ‘Energising Massage’. Before my spa, I took a good 15 mins steam, followed by a lime and ginger blended oil massage that transports you to sublime oasis and gently awaken your senses. My skin sure emerged revived, refreshed & firmer from the treatment ready to take on to another few days of all touristy things lined up.

After a tiring day, it’s just the perfect place to be at, and pamper yourself with soothing massages and other treatments.  Post my lovely one hour spa, I headed to the infinity pool which had a magnificent view of Aravalli hills. There multi-cuisine Vajra Restaurant serves a wide variety of Asian and Continental delicacies throughout the day and it all are starvation met its end right here.

The Nahargarh Fort is situated at the height of 700-ft and was primarily built to strengthen the defense mechanism of the city of Jaipur, now just imagine dining at that height, with a view so romantic and food so brilliant you will probably never want to leave. It’s a place that offers a perfect combination of wine and view from high above!

nahargargh 2nahargargh

Once Upon a Time Restaurant at Nahargagh is an experience everyone must have. For me its going to be on my list every time i visit this pink city.  With traditional music played by local artisans, who most happily take requests and greet you with utmost warmth, you can choose to sit alfresco or indoors in a royally inspired seating. The intricate work done on the ceiling and walls, the long glass window that shows of the glittering city of Jaipur by night is a site that will leave you breathless.

Their ‘Kheema Bhati’ is outstanding, crispy outside and filled with flavorful kheema inside that is full of flavors and just too good to resist. Their ‘Murgh Malai Kebab’ is mouth melting with rich marination and grilled to perfection, so is their ‘Gosht Seekh Kebab’, succulent and juicy paired perfectly with white wine and amazing ambiance is a delight in every bite.

Between your meals don’t forget to step up and join your loved one for a dance or just sip away your wine overlooking the view you will never forget.  Visit Nahargragh’s, Once upon a time for more of an experience than just a quick meal and make sure you have ample of time to enjoy every bit of your glittering night.

Monsoon Spa at The Spa by Park Hyatt, Hyderabad

Park Hyatt Hyderabad introduced a Special Monsoon Treatment at The Spa – “‘Herbal Bundle Massage’ that is especially put together for monsoons to re-energize oneself. The Spa  at Park Hyatt is a sanctuary to renew and to delight, where royal fragrances blend with decadent pearl rituals and the sophisticated herbal healing of Nizam tradition.

I was very eager to try it out but waited good 10 days after it was launched,  as i was down with viral fever (and it’s not suggested to opt for body massages when you are down with fever) But let’s just say the timing really worked, i had a lot of body pain even after i was back to work, so i finally blocked a date for this treatment as it intends to relax body and soul.

The Herbal Bundle Massage as informed by the spa manager is a true healing therapy for body stiffness and joint pain. He led me to the spa lounge , where I was welcomed with a Tamarind and jaggery drink in silver champagne glass along with a rolled wet towel.  It’s interiors are all cream-on-beige-deliciousness, dull lights that help you slip into zen mode. The calm color palette continues into the treatment room, all temptingly touchable in natural textures like marble, limestone and leather.

Once changed and ready my therapist began with foot wash with aromatic salt, as in any Ayurvedic treatment.  Post that she began the body massage with liberal application of medicated oils. I had to therapists assigned to me for, there was a missing sync in their moves but sooner or later my entire body was pampered with stretches and right strokes that relived all tension and knots in my body. Post The oil massage they began the therapy of bundle massage that is done with the use of pouches made out of muslin cloth which are filled with medicinal herbs and powders and it’s then poached over the whole body followed by a 30 minutes massage. This special therapy quickens the circulation and aids the muscles in disposing of accumulated waste products. I have had the bundle massage treatments earlier and I felt in this treatment the therapists lacked the usage of it, as it was thumped too fast and retracted any sense of relaxation.

So if you are looking for a treatment with results I would definitely suggest this as it has healing benefits that helps to stretch the tissue membrane, reduces traffic congestion around the compression of the joints, relieve spasticity of muscle, reduces the swelling caused by inflammation of muscles and joints and helps stimulate or increase blood circulation.

If you are looking to relax, I recommend you to go with their option that will be best suggested by the spa manager depending on your need. All in it was a great Sunday; my therapists recommended not have any shower or steam, and let the herbs and oils do their magic. So I used the hot towel to get rid of excess oil, changed and was back to the relaxing lounge for a cup of herbal tea and some apricots.

Vaya Tyffyns- Redefining Lunchboxes

Vaya, the it brand in Tiffins invited me over for the launch of their limited edition “Gold Tyffyn”  box by their CEO,Vashist Vasanthakumar,  who apart from unveiling the box, spoke about the core idea and immense growth of their brand beyond India.

Limited Edition ‘Gold Tyffyn” form Vaya

Tiffin boxes are and always will be essential part of Indian household. No matter what your age you always use of these in your daily lives, school lunch, office lunch, laddus sent in boxes from nani, pampering your friend with some home cooked food who stays away from  home. For us it’s more like sharing love and care than just food. So when they handed all the guests a ‘Vaya Tyffyn’ i was more than glad.

Graphite Tyffyn, 600ml, 2 containers from Vaya Tyffyn
Fits like a dream in my daily bag

Being a blogger, i eat out all the time, but when i am not i stick to my home cooked food at my office desk or wherever i am working. i have started carrying my Vaya literally everywhere, it fits like a dream in my bag. so be it shooting on location, at office, in the car i literally have by food on the go at great ease.

work mode on but thanks to vaya tyffyn i have my fancy lunch on the go

Vaya products are really fresh in style and sleek, even though i found it (600 ml tyffyn) on heavier side the rest of the qualities makes up for it. The boxes inside, be it the 3 container-1000ml or 2 container- 600ml are all built with VacuTherm technology, that helps preserve the aromas of masalas and keeps chappatis soft and fresh. The food remains warm for at least 4 hours, only if you pack it hot of course.  The lids of containers do the job well in avoiding any leaks. i also love the copper finished stainless steel containers and the fact that they have a divider inside that can help you carry variety of food at ease.

Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach

Visakhapatnam Beach, One of my Favorite Beaches in India

I have always loved Novotel properties; with two in Hyderabad itself my visits to their restaurants are quite often (they have some the best food festivals in town). This however was my first stay at one of their properties.

If you are following me on Instagram you would know the trail of this trip was Araku Valley and Vizag. This was a trip that took me ages to plan; it was kind of a reunion with my college friends but with lovely additions as many now came in category of Couples.

My stay at Novotel Varun Beach was second part of our travel plan. The hotel is just 30 minutes from the Airport and walking distance from the beach giving Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach a great reachability and accessibility factor. The moment I stepped into the hotel through huge glass doors, the foyer was bustling with people, mostly looked like a conference just winded up.

Post our easy check in and welcome drink; we were led to our rooms. The moment our elevator door opened I could see a spacious lounging area with beautiful sea view, only hoping my room would have the same; And it did. The hotel had a very urban vibe – modern decor portraying minimalism without lacking on quality. My room was bright, spacious living room, beautiful washrooms, walk in closet and cozy room- designed for a modern traveler. I loved the view and the coffee machine in my room the most (ah, the coffee addict in me)

Breakfast with view at Novotel
Breakfast in Bed, Perfect Leisure Holiday

Food: The Square, an all day dining restaurant serves global cuisines. We had our lunch here and the service and food was just splendid.  Breakfast is also served at the square where you can choose from cooked selection, juices, continental, fruit bowls and choice of eggs and of course Indian selections as well. Well I had mine in bed. Thanks to the courteous staff for making my holiday a perfectly leisure one.

Cheesy Pizza at Novotel, The Square

Vue -The lounge is great place to chill and since had an early morning flight we decided to chill at the hotel lounge for our last night. The interiors were pretty but we preferred our drinks outside by the pool overlooking the endless sea.

Zaffran: Zaffran is the second restaurant at the property and the cuisine is regional, they a five course Menu of the Day with all seats overlooking the ocean. I was really honored when the chef had us try some of the dishes from their new menu and the food was just incredible. My favorite was definitely the ‘Chuza Khas Tikka Masala’ that was finger looking good, special thanks to Chef Mrinmoy Pal, for extending his hospitality. The infinity pool is another feature of property which will enhance your stay (experience) at this property, a dip in the pool and view of Bay of Bengal is just stunning.

All in all it was a great stay, the view and food is definitely the factor I will most likely visit the property again. so go ahead an make your monsoon plans as its great time of the year to visit Vizag. Hyderabad food blogger, Indian food blogger, lifestyle blogger India

Weekend with RAW-Pressery

The festive season was a real thrill, Diwali is one of the most elaborate festivals of the year, and with it comes all the uncontrollable consumption of sweets, desi food and what not. i know i am a food blogger and i am always out reviewing food but the festive season is what actually raises guilt.

So i decided to take a cleanse, not with an intention to curb that entire calorie intake or weight loss (Detox diets or juice cleanse DO NOT help you lose weight, they just help you kick start a healthy diet) but just to kill that mental feeling of being bloated.

So i went ahead and ordered myself a Detox Cleanse from ‘Raw Pressery’. With its presence in Hyderabad no, i dint want to give it a miss. i have tried few local juice cleanse before and i knew how it goes (mostly surviving on set if juices all day, to be consumed in intervals) these juices are a mix of fresh vegetables and fruits to give you the best of nutrition with each bottle.

A one day detox costs about 1500/- that delivers 6 bottles, 410ml of ‘All Good, No Bad’ right at your doorstop. The bottles looked filling and the gorgeous hues left me enticed. But remember once you open it’s for immediate consumption only, and since they are all cold pressed you need to refrigerate and consume with a day or two.

Each bottle has a benefit and the ideal consumption time clearly written on it. Just takes all the guesswork out of doing a juice cleanses, making it easy and enjoyable. My favorite of all juices were Flush, Glow and Shield.

Kick starting the day with a morning walk at necklace road  and first juice of the day
If only Saturdays were an off, work all day but loving the RAW love
Much needed pamper session at Aura spa, The Park Hyderabad; flushing toxins inside out
Catching up with friends but carrying my Raw Pressery to shield my cravings
skipping all the makeup essentials and going for inner glow
Because its perfectly okay to spend some weekends at home but ‘in style’

I would definitely recommend you to try it (especially with all the ‘getting in shape for New-year ‘drama has begun) and even though i am not going to go for a full cleanse soon (its advisable to do it once or twice a month only), I am definitely going for the other option where you can get one or two juices delivered every day or alternate day. Because i personally don’t follow a very fit lifestyle but i guess this is a great way to start, by including at least one bottle of ‘Healthy’ in my daily life.

Have a Fit week ahead. Don’t forget to follow your only Hyderabad lifestyle blogger for all the ‘New and What’ happening in Hyderabad on Instagram at FASHIONEATISTA
