Brunch at The Square, Novotel

The Square at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center, is especially popular for its Sunday Brunch but I decided to go for it today since i was at the hotel for a meeting. Having heard so much about the place, I have been here for dinners but never lunch. This chic and friendly restaurant and its AL fresco area has quite a welcoming vibe.  Executive Chef Gaurav Malhotra joined us for lunch talking about the new live station additions to the brunch counters and upcoming food festivals at the hotel.

The brunch menu has a lavish spread consisting of revered regional classics to contemporary international highlights, from counters that stocked variety of reads, cheese, salad there was a special counter of grills that I loved the most.

While most of it came on table, I always enjoy going for a quick round, around the spread picking some breads, choice of salad, maybe (definitely) a piece of dessert too.

Being a weekday it was quite laid back and I enjoyed the relaxed ambiance of overlooking lush greenery, letting the monsoon air soothe me while I enjoyed every delicacy that came my way.

A sinful assortment of desserts, along with a selection of wines and beverages, are the perfect complement to revered regional classics and international delights.

Opening hours: Daily – 6:30am to 11pm

Pine-n-Peak by ITC, Pahalgam

Pine n Peak Hotel, Pahalgam
Kahwa & Freshly Baked Cakes on arrival at Pine n Peak Hotel, Pahalgam

Surrounded by lush pine trees and snow-clad mountains, WelcomHotel Pine-n-Peak by ITC is located in the picturesque town of Pahalgam. Located atop the Rajwas Plateau, Pine-n-Peak’s pristine beauty remains untouched by the chaos of the market and ensures that the best views are accorded to Welcom Hotel Pine n Peak, including the shimmering Lidder River and snow topped mountains playing with the sunrays, bathing the valley in different hues throughout the day.

This ‘Khwabgah Suite’ our abode for in hills for three blissful nights
Room with a view at Pine n Peak Hotel, Pahalgam
Nothing is better than munching hot crisps in the freezing weather

Snuggled in the layers of untouched snow and fir laden paths, the property boosts of 80 rooms, suites and cottages. We got to stay the luxury ‘Khawabgah Suit’ (by the way it was the same room Alia Bhatt stayed while she was shooting for Raazi in Kashmir) not that it had to be a reason to make us special, as the room was special in its own way, the view was great, the living room and room had a touch of Kashmiri details along with urban amenities. Along with the most magnificent views of the beautiful city, one can enjoy a game of golf at the nearby Pahalgam Race Course, or shop from the finest shopping arcade of Pahalgam, or enjoy a day of fishing in the Liddar River. Those looking for high adrenaline activities can enjoy trekking, river rafting and also skating at the Welcom Hotel ice rink. Every season here brings with itself something new; the valley, it seems changes colors as winters fade into spring and summers blend with Autumn.

It is rare to find charming and genuinely warm staff at most luxury properties. But at this property the staff will you impressed with their warmth, attentiveness, courtesy and a natural zeal to serve. Each of the staff members will leave a lasting impression on you and make sure even your tiny need is fulfilled with a huge smile.

Breakfast with a view, right in my Khwabgah suit at Pine n Peak Hotel, Pahalgam

Food: The property has three dining outlets, overlooking the garden and the river, Lolaab – All Day Dinning, Saahil – Tea Lounge, Gulistan – Open Garden all offer mutli-cuisine delicacies. Since it was my first stop in Kashmir i went all out on the local specialties like tabakh maaz, rista (meatballs in a red, paprika-saffron-fennel spice gravy), rogan josh,  korma (lamb roasted with yoghurt, spices and onion puree, topped with coriander leaves),  seekh kababs and contains four pieces of methi korma (chicken or mutton flavored with a spice mixture containing dried fenugreek (methi) leaves), marchhwangan korma (chicken legs/thighs cooked in a spicy browned-onion sauce) and gushtaba (meatballs cooked in a spicy yoghurt gravy) and also wouldn’t want to miss the best ever walnut brownie I have ever had was right here at Pine and Peak with ice-cream. The credit entirely goes to the staff who insisted to send it to our room when I told them I had no space for dessert, and I am so glad I did.

Kahwa is the traditional tea in Kashmir and it goes with everything you eat as it helps digestion of the food. The tea is prepared by boiling green tea leaves with saffron strands, cinnamon bark, cardamom pods and occasionally Kashmiri roses to add special aroma. The tea is then served with sugar or honey and crushed nuts, usually almonds or walnuts. I swear I dint have coffee my entire trip, and stuck to Kahwa throughout.

stay (1)
View from the gardens of Pine n Peak, Pahalgam
One of the best moments from my stay at Pine n Peak, Pahalgam was breakfast overlooking lidder river

I am not a morning person, but when I am in hills it comes automatically to me. I was so glad to make an effort on a cosy winter morning for an outdoor breakfast, overlooking the Liddar River. The crisp air, hot refills from samovar paired with fresh Kashmiri breads and an extended breakfast indulging in a view of hills was an absolute bliss. Stay at Pine n Peak was a really heart-warming experience, and all the credit goes to the staff, who will go out of their way to make your needs meet. I loved how they offered to organise a special bonfire, after a long ride (horse ride) to Baisaran organise an outdoor breakfast setup and treated us like family and even packed a take away meal for us for our ride to Srinagar our next stop.

You can have a look at their website here and make you summer/winter booking. A pro tip is that pahalgam has so many places, and if you a person who love trekking and exploring; you can spend up to a week without getting bored. Read more about places to visit in my following blogs, as I take you to a virtual journey to Srinagar and Gulmarg next.

Heavenly Spa at The Westin Hyderabad

Spa for most of us means a place where you get a massage. Which is actually not the case and at Westin Hyderabad, Heavenly Spa shows us why. The concept at Westin’s Heavenly Spa is to create a complete wellness experience.

I was invited over the weekend to indulge and review their signature heavenly massage. My therapist for the day led me to their massage room, and once I was ready she began with soaking my feet in warm water using mineral salt to cleanse them and began with my treatment. She used apple pie oil that gave extreme moisture to my winter dry skin. I drifted into Zen mode as she began with my concentrated (focus) area with required pressure to relive stress and have a more enhanced blood circulation in my body.

The pressure was just perfect and exactly what I needed after a long week of work, I enjoyed every bit of it.  As the warm oil seeped into my body I could feel my aches slowly fade away and enter a state of absolute bliss. This goes over an hour and my masseuse slowly kneads on my muscles combining that with gentle strokes. The last 10-15 minutes she spent massaging my face and head. More like pressing the correct pressure points and releasing stress and it was followed by a facial.

I opted for the ‘Illumination’ facial. It is curated to bring back glow to your face. The active ingredients and cooling gel mask brighten up the skin by treating the hyper pigmented areas. This again was an hour long treatment that was done using the ‘Comfort Zone’ products winding up with a pack followed by a serum to keep you skin glowing and hydrated.

At Heavenly Spa you can always add-on, facilities like body scrubs, steam and Jacuzzi right in your room (on additional basis).  The post therapy part included, being escorted to a quite dim lit, waiting area where I relaxed, breathing in an amazing experience I just had while sipping a hot  cup of green tea with some dark chocolates and walnuts for a quick a boost.

Vaya Tyffyns- Redefining Lunchboxes

Vaya, the it brand in Tiffins invited me over for the launch of their limited edition “Gold Tyffyn”  box by their CEO,Vashist Vasanthakumar,  who apart from unveiling the box, spoke about the core idea and immense growth of their brand beyond India.

Limited Edition ‘Gold Tyffyn” form Vaya

Tiffin boxes are and always will be essential part of Indian household. No matter what your age you always use of these in your daily lives, school lunch, office lunch, laddus sent in boxes from nani, pampering your friend with some home cooked food who stays away from  home. For us it’s more like sharing love and care than just food. So when they handed all the guests a ‘Vaya Tyffyn’ i was more than glad.

Graphite Tyffyn, 600ml, 2 containers from Vaya Tyffyn
Fits like a dream in my daily bag

Being a blogger, i eat out all the time, but when i am not i stick to my home cooked food at my office desk or wherever i am working. i have started carrying my Vaya literally everywhere, it fits like a dream in my bag. so be it shooting on location, at office, in the car i literally have by food on the go at great ease.

work mode on but thanks to vaya tyffyn i have my fancy lunch on the go

Vaya products are really fresh in style and sleek, even though i found it (600 ml tyffyn) on heavier side the rest of the qualities makes up for it. The boxes inside, be it the 3 container-1000ml or 2 container- 600ml are all built with VacuTherm technology, that helps preserve the aromas of masalas and keeps chappatis soft and fresh. The food remains warm for at least 4 hours, only if you pack it hot of course.  The lids of containers do the job well in avoiding any leaks. i also love the copper finished stainless steel containers and the fact that they have a divider inside that can help you carry variety of food at ease.

Rock it like a Boss

Palazzo’s are stylish answer to summer heat. These airy trousers are great substitute for jeans, leggings and the overdone jeggings. They are really comfortable and when paired with a right top can look really stylish and give you a sculpted look even with loose fit of palazzo.

You can team palazzo with crop tops, kurtas, shirts, tank tops or even stylish blazers. You can choose from prints to solid colors, this style looks great on women of all sizes, just pick a top length according to your shape and carry it with panache.

I love these beige set from AND that I paired with black tank top and black stilettos. It’s a perfect look for any formal event and makes a great brunch outfit too. Paired it with my carry all bag and stilettos giving it an effortless chic look. Heels are perfect for palazzo’s because the added height makes the palazzo flow very well with your outfit.

Spring Fling with Archana Rao Label

It’s no shocker that pastels are hottest spring’s fling, light pink hues in particular are popping up everywhere this season. Pastels of all shades are welcome be it blue, lavenders, blush, lime.. pick anything.

I really like the tone-in-tone look, when it comes to adding some color to my wardrobe, being a person who is mostly in forever love with black and marsala i have been experimenting with colors a lot and well what better time than spring and summer.

This particular look is chic yet utterly wearable. Archana Rao ‘s garments are a combination of fresh fashion and oodles of femininity ;  adding the bow belt helped give the over sized coat the right shape and fit. The wooden clutch expertly handcrafted, brings more color to the look . I went all in and experimented  with these sporty footwear (i love it for the intricate detailing and comfort) instead of heels.

Fish and Chicken from Argentinian Grills, Park Hyatt

 Luxurious Sunday Brunch

It was like 3 kitchens and 1 Destination. It indeed was one of the most elaborate Sunday Brunch in Hyderabad. Basking at the outdoor Terrazzo with Argentinian Grills, walking indoors for completely Italian flavors (couldn’t get over the 5 types of lasagna, neither less to say I over indulged in it with my favorite red wine) my brunch was like a culinary journey of flavors. If you are thinking i stopped at 2 cuisines let me add the third, the brunch continues at the Oriental Bar & Kitchen with its specialties from Indonesia. TDH Menu by Marriott Hyderabad

Marriott Hyderabad always welcomes you to some of the finest delicacies and this time i was invited to taste a 6 course- Inspire me chef ‘TDH Menu’ handcrafted by Chef Yogender Pal (fondly known as Chef Yogi) that will be available Okra, Marriott Hyderabad every Saturday.

It is a complete experiential menu by chef and his team, inspired by his journey and experiences around the world. Mixing up unusual ingredients with new techniques and recipes, every dish was a surprise to the palate and eyes!

This menu will be available every Saturday (and will have something new every week) as part of the a la carte option, that will let guests choose options in Appetizers, Soups, Pasta & Main course, but has a preset dessert, sorbet ( well trust me when i say you wont be left with space for any separate orders).

Amuse Bouche and Soya Glazed Chicken Terrain at Marriott Hyderabad

The first thing that came to table was ‘Macaroon’ and i almost got excited (with me being such a dessert lover, i thought the meal was starting with a dessert.. but it wasn’t) it was after all an experimental menu and once i was told its ‘Amuse-Bouche’ macaroon, but with Chicken Liver Patty i was amazed, crispy outside and rich of flavor inside, it was just delightful.

Next came ‘Soya Glazed Chicken Terrain’ in appetizer, i mean just look at the dish below, what i loved the most about this dish was use of red wine jelly, this dish was burst of flavors as much as it is in colors.

IMG_8468 1
Green Pea Soup with Butter Poached Prawns  at Marriott Hyderabad

‘Green Pea Veloute with Butter Poached Prawns’ for soup was creamy and flawless.

Lemon Chili Sorbet

Giving us a beak, we were served ‘Lemon, chili and vodka sorbet’ that acts as a palate cleanser, helping us prepare for the next dishes, because we were not even half way there yet. Hyderabad blogger, top food blogger in Hyderabad

Squid Ink Ravioli

Coming to Main course, we started of with ‘Squid Ink Ravioli’ with tomato and seafood butter Which also helped me tick away a Trend of the year in food- which is obviously Black Food. The first bite i took, i was a little skeptical, but then i bit into the more central part which had the filling and also the tanginess added by seafood butter just made my mind change about it, for good.

Pan Seared Lamb Lion

In Main Course chef served us ‘Pan Seared Lamb Loin’ served with Red Cabbage Puree, Fondant Potatoes and Glazed Baby Carrots, i wasn’t very satisfied with this particular dish as it was harder and chewy. I did chew away all the little carrots  and of course swiped the wine jelly off the plate.

The Earth, with Raspberry Curd Bar in backdrop at Okra, Marriott Hyderabad

‘Raspberry Curd Bar’ is a tiny pre-dessert that cuts through the richness of all the flavors we experienced in our main course to create a perfect balance between sweet and savory and an ideal bridge towards the sweeter finale of the meal. ‘The Earth’ a citrus Vanilla Mousseline, Sour Cherry Compote, Chocolate Soil’ is so Instagram friendly dish, its almost heartbreaking to dig in. Chocolate soil in an edible Chocolate mold, served with citrus vanilla mousseline and sour cherry compote; infused with perfume was a Grand Finale to the exceptional meal. Hyderabad blogger, Indian travel blogger, best Hyderabad blogger

Food was great every course of our meal was detailed to perfection, it was a real delight to eyes as well as my taste. Plating that could win a heart of any artist and  colors that brighten up your mood, i would definitely recommend this fine meal at Marriott.

Taj Swarna, Amritsar

Taj Swarna, Amritsar

My visit to Amritsar became even more special when Taj Hotels warmly welcomed me  to their all new property ‘Taj Swarna’. I have been wanting to explore the travel blogging side more, and this year you are going to a lot of travel blogs, so watch this space and do suggest in if there is anything particular you would want to read about. For now sink in the luxury of Taj. Taj carries weight of excellence and its stellar reputation for service often precedes the stay. Tucked away from the hustle bustle of city Taj Swarana reflects urban elegance with a touch of heritage in few details. The lobby is charming with a brilliantly lit chandelier and an inviting vibe, it was even more special with their traditional welcome, a flower bouquet especially for me and their welcome drink.

Winter Green

Pantone releases a color ever year declaring it as a ‘Color of the Year’ and this year they choose ‘Greenery’. Pantone Doesn’t set a trend but helps set a base for it and companies, be it fashion or otherwise make trends, business around it. Pantone has said with the world we live in today, it’s a very stressful and intense one. With high demands and pressure to succeed in everyday life, we forget to “stay calm”. This color visually is designed to bring those emotions and thoughts into place. According to the company, the color of the year “Greenery” brings meaning and an idea of what’s been happening in the global culture.

I like the color, especially emerald green. Green as a color is so uplifting, and when you say green you have all the visuals of trees, mountains, grass basically all things fresh and alive. I agree that people need to make a sense of connection to reality (not man made but natural) and encourage people to “Take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate”.

I Love this dress from H&M I got it last year when the store just launched in Delhi. It’s perfect for Hyderabad weather. The boots add to entire winter feel, seeing I wait an entire year to wear them, I have worn these boots so much and now can’t wait for winters to return or take a holiday abroad to take them out of closet again (as it is it’s hard to wear boots in Hyderabad, a big face palm)

Hope you guys liked this post, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @fashioneatista for more update and scoop.Have a great week ahead and do what you love.

Bounce Salon & Spa Hyderabad

last year was very experimental for me, i am extremely possessive of my hair and when i decided to color my hair it took mt 2 years to finalize between browns and mahogany. when i finally got brown highlights i was so happy and withing 6 months (when they almost faded) i went for a retouch but ended up with ombre of same color. I loved every bit of it.

My Ombre Look before i went global

But then it started wearing of the and brown started changing to almost copper’ish color (trust me it looked very weird) and i was in need of major make over of my hair and that is when i headed to newly opened Bounce Salon & Spa in Hyderabad and consulted their expert who took over all my worries.

Post my color i also went for a Hair Spa, they suggested me – ‘Elements Hair Spa’ and as the name suggest the products used where from Elements, a quick wash followed by massage (this is the best part,  the kneading strokes eases tension and stimulates blood flow) post massage they gave me a nice steam to soak in all the goodness, post which a wash and blow dry completed the treatment. Idly its not suggested to go for blow dry but since i have sinus issue i get it low dried partially.

This is how my hair looks now, i love the brown that subtly glows in sunlight and my hair feels great even after 2 washes.

Impressed by range of their services and with time on hand i decided to try out their skin care option as well and after a glance at my skin the expert (yes they have on for your skin issues as well) after voicing my concern hey suggested me to go for ‘Hydrating & Nourishing Cleanup by Comfort Zone’and as i relaxed my way to a glowing skin they tailor made a process for me when i mentioned i need an extra glow for the upcoming wedding i had to attend (which they were happy to give). Starting of they did a 3 step clean up treatment, that cleanses, brightens and lightens your skin for a perfect glow (30 Mins) they then followed up with a Illumination Whitening Treatment that helps to reduce the look of uneven skin tone, pigmentation. This treatment is for immediate fix but you can have maximum results with a few settings depending on your skin (as suggested by their skin care expert)

Bounce Salon & Spa has special rooms for skin care regimes and spa services

They offered me a complementary pedicure service which was no less than an extended foot spa experience. The place is hygienic, spacious, the staff is well aware and trained. i am definitely sticking by them for my future spa appointments.

The Mani-Pedi Section at Bounce Salon & Spa

I made a day out it pampering my self to a make over, cleanup, pedicure and hair spa and totally had an amazing time. They also specialize in Nail, Spa, Bridal and Make up services along with Hair and Skin.

So don’t wait up for the weekend and get yourself pampered, don’t forget to take an appointment before hand and for even better service do ask their in-house experts to suggest what suits you best. With 3 outlets in the city, there services are more accessible than ever.

Oversized Cardigans

Happy New Year guys,
A little late? well its just been 12 days, the beginning of a new year is still sinking in for me. I am not one to make resolutions but i think every one thinks this time as a clean state, our daily chores may not change, nor will your boss and not the people around.. what we can is change our thoughts to more positive ones, fill ourselves with gratitude and do things that make You HAPPY.

I have been enjoying the winters, the cold weather just seems to be at its best these days (and almost makes me late to work..literally every day) Hot coffee taste even better, sometimes i replace it with hot chocolate, wear lot of layers and cosy up on books and sitcoms (after all its the season of comebacks and new shows)

My favorite winter wear (any day) are the cardigans, especially this ruby red over sized one. i added a scarf for visual interest of warmth. my blue denims and boots are perfect match for work as well a stylish enough for any go-to meetings and events.

Cardigan & Boots : Forever 21, Denims & Shades: Forever New, Scarf: Gucci, Bag: Zara, Ring: Hyperbole Acessories

Over Sized Cardigans:
One thing i really want to share though is about over sized cardigans (since its seasons favorite) over sized cardigans are underrate, they are perfect for fall and winter weather, keeps you cozy and comfy while looking stylish at the same time. Though you need to make sure you get one that fits appropriately, is the right length, and is in a knit or pattern that works with your whole outfit.

The word “over sized” means different things to different people. When it comes to cardigans, it doesn’t mean buying one a size or two bigger than you are, or borrowing one that belongs to your boyfriend. You need to shop with your correct size in mind and make sure that the shape of the sweater itself doesn’t swallow you up. Sleeves should hit at the wrist or just slightly cover the hand. Do not wear a cardigan as mittens and preferably chose to pair it with form-fitting outfit, like skinny or narrow pants, leggings, skirts, or dresses with a tapered waist or belt (just like i did).

Well i have an extended weekend with sankranti on Saturday, look out for my  back to back post this weekend on more festive note. Do follow your favorite Hyderabad blogger on Instagram for more update on whats happening in Hyderabad @fashioneatista.

Pastel & Pearls

December is one of my favorite months, it gives me flashbacks about the entire year, the trips i took, weddings i attended, failed decisions i took, lessons i learnt and of course memories i made; but that’s not it and i am way too excited for the new year and really looking forward to embrace every bit of it.
But before that i am taking out time to cherish the winter weather, gorge on some hot delicacies and watching loads of movies (will be uploading a list of my favorite Christmas special movies soon) meanwhile i would like to share this super cute and feminine look that i am really loving right now.

This is one of my favorite holiday looks, wavy hair, pink sweat shirt with pearl details and denims. This Top from Label Archana Rao is perfect with  classic denims for a graceful holiday look, and for a casual whimsical look, it pairs beautifully with my tiny sling bag and nude (and almost same shade of ) pumps.

As soon as you enter the spa cum store (store because they sell a wide range of products under ‘Spa Ceylon’, they were kind enough to gift me a hamper which I will be reviewing on blog soon- so far loving them) the sounds of Ceylon melodies in the background welcomes you along with soothing aroma of Lemongrass that wafts through the air.

Once i picked my treatment for the day, which was a 90 minutes ‘Kandyan Relaxing Ritual’ I was introduced to my masseuse and escorted to a private treatment room with en-suite shower area. While i changed and prepped for my treatment to begin, I went through the products laid out for treatments.

Spa Ceylon has created – and uses – its own natural, eco-friendly products that are alcohol free, which makes them absolutely safe and delightful to experience at the hands of expert masseuse

Treatment: Kandyan Treatment

The Kandyan Relaxing Ritual is a luxuriously relaxing and rejuvenating spa experience that made me feel pampered to the core. The inclusion of soothing head and forehead movements ensures the total ritual and helps improve circulation, balance energy flows, soothe muscle tightness and take away stress, tension and anxiety. This spa ritual includes a traditional full body massage to soothe and comfort the entire body. They also performed a soothing acupressure body therapy with precious mineral crystals.

Products Used: Because it’s all about products at Spa Ceylon

Sleep Spray Mist (sprayed before the treatment) It’s a body pillow mist to promote deep restful sleep, with properties like lavender that helps take away stress and relax senses while luxuriously fragrant ylang ylang calms and clarifies  mind and body.

Aloe Vera Mint Balm (for body Massage) a natural formula with deep action to cool, soothe and protect. It has wheat germ and natural vitamin that help nourish and moisturize while organic aloe infused with fruit oils hydrate dry skin

Crystal Stone – For acupressure.

Peace Mist (sprayed on face) lemongrass helps balance senses & promote inner peace while lavender in it helps relax, spiked lavender helps restore tranquility and peppermint helps clarify senses.

Calming Balm- (massaged on forehead, temples behind ears back and neck) it gently pacifies senses and promotes tranquility. Helps unwind and assists in promoting restful sleep

Hair Oil Mist (for head massage) Aloe Vera water grass with refreshing aromatic herbs and essential oils helps soften hair and adds luxurious glow

Hot towel– I choose to go for hot towel clean up instead of a shower to let the moisture absorb, because winters requires as much moisture as possible.

Steam – I wanted to go for steam, but since the steam room was outside the room and no gowns available I skipped it.

Duration: 90 Minutes

Post Spa: The experience winded up with a cup of hot herbal tea, accompanied with pineapples and pieces of jaggery. Definitely coming back to try another treatment from their long list of rejuvenating rituals. Top Hyderabad blogger
