Gone Fishing Cottages, Tirthan Valley

Gone Fishing Cottages, it is what the word getaway was aptly made for. Located in beautiful  Deori village of Tirthan valley, by a gushing stream is small cluster of wooden cottages designed and conceptualized with love to every detail. Golden marigold bloom everywhere, an in-house café and a hammock right in the middle of courtyard was my glimpse of the property.

Perfect for anyone who wants a tranquil getaway and enjoy a far away feeling (from the busy world) be it with your family, friends or go solo (like me). From lazy afternoons spent having juicy local fruits, soaking in winter sun by a water stream (or in it) that is just few steps away from the cottage, to nights spent on private deck having perfectly grilled trout and heap of mashed potatoes, my stay at Gone fishing cottages was a mountain fantasy come true.

The beautiful property is enveloped by step farming fields and blooming orchards on one side, while on the other side, a thick forest of tall cedar and pine trees rests. Gone fishing cottages is both private and welcoming with its incredible host (mother hen- Dimple) She runs the place making sure every little detail from crisp curtains to aromatic toiletries (which she makes employing local women) delicious dishes on menu to surprise desserts.

This family-run homestay comes with a whole lot of grandeur and warm hospitality – If you love dogs, there are five of them, if you love books, they are racks full of them in the cottage, and if you like nature well take a walk and you are surrounded by best of panoramic views.

Its cottages, with their bare stone walls and rustic, wooden furniture add to your experience of wilderness living. The rooms are spacious with hint of coziness and pool of natural light flowing in, in mornings and long glass doors that open to your own little private balcony. You can book the entire cottage that comes with 2/3 rooms each or a room in one. The cottage comes with a kitchenette, table with high stools and living space where you can spend lounging around or you could spend hours gazing at the stars at the private deck right outside the cottage. The hosts not only love nature but are also conscious about it, you will notice multiple recycled things all over the property – utilisation of empty alcohol bottles as light shades, twine-entwined lamps, soap stands out of pipes and more.

Whether you’re working from home, a bird watcher, group of friends or two people in love – if you are looking to spend time in nature, I assure your experience at Gone fishing cottages will be nothing short of a rejuvenation.

I have been an avid user of their toner; it is nourishing and requires minimum moisturizing post it which helps cut down on an extensive steps and set of skincare. Any brand that has been inspired by its roots follows its legacy, tradition, and beauty does give immense results. They paired need of people like me who crave the purity of nature paired with the efficiency of science and it is exactly what Gulnare Skincare as a brand offers.

Since all their products are made fresh, have no chemical preservatives, and come in small quantities, they won’t last you years on end like other products you buy off the shelf. Their recipes are deliberately kept pure, minus any filler, so you get more of each carefully-curated ingredient. As a result, a little goes a long way.

Kaftan vibe with Nadima Saqib

I love traveling, well that’s quite obvious but what i love more is Traveling in style. In my recent travel to Ahmedabad, i stayed at a beautiful century old property where every corner had a story.

To much the vibe of the place i chose 5he beautiful Nadima Saqib ,cotton crush kaftan. The kaftan has intricate dori work details on neck and slightly puffed sleeves with mire dori work in slits.

Long and flowy, breathable in the humid Ahmedabad weather, i lounged around the property literally getting lost in a by gone era. A place where Mahatma Gandhi himself stayed.

WelcomHotel Shimla, Mashobra

I recently got back from Shimla, also known as the queen of hill stations. The only thing I was really sure for this vacation was, I wanted to avoid busy mall road that offered a beautiful view of buildings stacked on top of each other (which I enjoyed from my drive) and crowded eateries and yet mange to have a good time.

Sounded tough, because everyone told me that was the while essence of Shimal. Not for me though, for me Shimla was deep rooted childhood memory – chilly weather, hot gulab jamuns and surrounded by green and quite.  After a little further research I found WelcomHotel Shimla, 14 km uphill from busy town of Shimla, the leisure property is nestled amidst Mashobra valley, surrounded by picturesque view, serene vibe and an absolute dream for anyone (like me) who want to be surrounded by nature.

Rooms: the rooms at first felt quite compact but 2 things that helped me overlook it was – the view- both from my balcony and from the bed. I spent hours watching the breathtaking night sky glistening with stars and also enjoyed the beautiful mornings with the soothing valley view. Second, was the fact that the room is designed in a L shape format that gives absolute privacy (doesn’t give away the look of entire room to someone at the door). Facilitated with all modern amenities fit for a comfortable stay, my experience overall was comfortable one.

ITC has consciously been one of the hospitality brands that is mindful of its resources and encourage sustainability. From eco-friendly packaging of essentials, wood combs and tooth brush to glass bottles in restaurants. Not to forget the current WeAssure initiative that encourages safety of all guests, from temperature check on arrival, sanitization of luggage, hands and shoes. Not only that but the rooms are freshly sanitized, cutlery wrapped, so it touches only your hands while eating.

Food: WelcomCafe Cedar is an all-day dining restaurant that offers continental, Indian, and seasonal specialties from the region all accessible to you by QR code.  My favorite meal however was the dinner arranged in their Sunset Garden with bonfire keeping us warm under the starry sky where we were served Himachali Dham – an assortment of popular regional dishes that come laid out in a single thali. The ingredients were seasonal and locally sourced, supporting the farming community of the neighborhood.

Perfect for a leisurely family getaway in the lap of snowcapped mountains, the hotel has indoor and outdoor activities like chess, kids’ play corner and guided local tours. The outdoor activities include cycling, short treks, bird watching and archery.

Must try: The outdoor picnic by the brilliant team at WelcomHotel Shimla was curated keeping our interests and food preferences in mind. A short drive from the property, a downhill stone path, lead us to a beautiful opening in the forest. The space was set up with a tent for seating, a recliner, a hammock, games that included- badminton space with net, dart board on the tree, board games, speaker for music- food options like pizza from hotel, freshly cooked maggi, barbecued tikkas, tea/coffee or chilled soft drinks it was all there qlong with two members of the staff, who are instantly there when you need something as small as tissue but will merge in background without making their presence felt, giving you utmost privacy

Adivah, Dharamsala

We have been back on travelling grid for a bit now, and only thing that becomes more and more clear is – if you want to travel, do it responsibly. The hospitality industry is welcoming guests all over India with open arms with safety protocols and making the guest experience as safe and memorable as possible. Choosing a location and property could take an extra effort now. But well here is my bit, first hand experience so all you have to do is just BOOK!

The beauty and tranquility of the Himalayas transcend all others. Situated within the mighty lofts of the Himalayas is the magnificent valley of Himachal. Nestled in the lap of this valley is Adivaha – a resort in Dharamsala. Adivaha resort is a 3 centuries old, heritage building, that has been recently restored and remodeled to serve every traveler in search of peace and tranquility. The boutique resort  is situated within just a 30 minutes drive from the nearest airport in the bustling city of Dharamsala. It is surrounded by lush green tea gardens and is spread over an area of 10 acres.

Room – Adivah resort boasts of being an all-suite property. We stayed in their Viceroy Suite, that provides guests with a remarkable stay within the serenity of the Himalayas. The interiors of the suites are adorned with warm, elegant colour tones that exude a relaxing ambience. The suites overall are spacious, furnished with plush decor and a separate living room for the comfort of the guests. The best part however all the luxury suites open up to a spacious balcony that offers magnificent views.

Food: The property has an all-day dining restaurant that offers a buffet spread as well as Alacarte menu. In room dining or a private setup in your garden, they do it all. From continental to Indian the food here is absolutely delicious. We also requested to try the local cuisine and chef served us with a Himachali Thali that was delight to our senses.  Handpicked from different regions of the valley, it was an amalgamation of flavors and a great end to our vacation. With outdoor as well as indoor sitting areas, the dining area serves the best in ambience and flavors.

I was travelling with two of my friends and not once did we step out of the property. We spent our days laying on grass in our private lawns, brewing coffee, watching sunsets, ordering in room in room dining, cycling within the properties, we even had our own little yoga session in our garden. It was an experience that filled our soul with so much happiness and rejuvenation.

Hemp & all you need to know about it

Hemp is getting a lot of attention of late because of its perceived health benefits. Hemp’s complicated history may be discouraging for people who want to reap the beneficial aspects of this plant. But here is my attemt to make it simple for you – Hemp, also known as ‘industrial hemp’, is a non-psychoactive variety of cannabis Sativa and historical records trace its origins to the Himalayan region in Asia. My first conscious consumption of infact this year, when i traveled to Binsar, Himachal Pradesh where my taste buds lead me to try the local cuisine- part of which was bhan ki chutney. I was curious to know more, i was educated by locals on how it has been part of the land and it’s food forever. I researched, spoke to brands and found it was available in abundance and in all ways possible gifting us with all it natural benefits.

Hemp can also be a bit confusing—how is it different from marijuana? Hemp comes from the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa, which is a variety similar to the marijuana plant but very different in terms of the compounds it contains. Marijuana contains relatively high levels of THC, the compound responsible for the mind-altering effects of the plant. While hemp is a related plant, it has very low levels of THC. (It needs to have less than 0.3 percent THC to be grown legally.) The flowers, stems, and leaves of the hemp plant, however, do contain CBD. CBD is a compound thought to have health benefits but without the mind-altering effects of THC.

Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is cultivated for making a wide range of products including foods, health products, fabric, rope, natural remedies, and much more. The various parts of the hemp plant are used to make different products.

Here is how you can include Hemp in your daily life through application and consumption

Hemp seeds, Hemp hearts, Hemp flour

Hemp Seeds are edible and are considered highly nutritious with a high concentration of soluble and insoluble fiber, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids for heart health and skin health. Hemp is grown for non-drug use because it contains only trace amounts of THC (the psychoactive component of the marijuana plant that is responsible for getting a person high). The seeds can be pressed to create hemp seed oil or ground up and mixed with water to create hemp milk. Hemp hearts, have a very high anti-oxidant effect and are believed to improve heart health and reduce symptoms of ailments related to skin and joints. These seeds can be added to your meals as a whole or consumed in the form of powder for a well-balanced diet. Toss them into smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, salads, soups, stews, dips, and dressings, or using them in baked goods like muffins. Hemp flour results from removing hemp oil from hemp seed.

HEMP Magic Potion is packed fresh into zero waste glass bottles which can be reused or recycled completely. This Hemp potion can be used as hair conditioner, skin moisturizer and can also be consumed in salads and more. Studies found that hempseed oil may improve dry, itchy skin and help symptoms of eczema, reducing the need for prescription medication

Hemp Oil

Hemp Seed Oil (also called hempseed oil) comes from the seeds of the hemp plant; it is made by cold-pressing hemp seeds. Hempseed oil differs from CBD oil in that CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis plant and then combined with a base oil (such as coconut, MCT, or olive oil). Hempseed oil, which comes from the seeds only—and not from a hemp variety of the Cannabis plant itself—does not contain any psychoactive properties (such as those from THC which cause a person to get high). Hemp oil has incredible health benefits and is used in foods for its high level of healthy nutrients such as -Proteins, Essential fatty acids (EFAs), Minerals (such as zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, and more), and Antioxidants (such as Vitamin E). Hemp oil can be used as a cooking oil and, just like any other type of healthy oil, can be added to foods such as salads, dips, and spreads.

SUITECASE OF MEMORIES WITH HYATT

Do you ever visit a same place twice and it only gets better with every visit? Dharamshala has become a yearly visit for me and in last 5 years, there is something about its culture, food but most importantly experiences I think, that keeps making me want to go back every year. This year however was a bold move.  I (just like everyone else) was cooped up for a really long time and my friends and I decided to go experience a safe hospitality with Hyatt Dharamshala.

It was my second visit to the property and under all safety measures their hospitality is exactly what we needed post lockdown. The beautiful room that gave away the view of breathtaking Dhauladhars and pine trees, while in-room it was spacious enough for us 3 girls to have a spacious 3 days of stay. Getting ready in the spacious bathroom and walk-in closet reminded us of the days gone by. The rooms were well equipped with all modern amenities, special mention to the room coffee machine and bath robes that, we used the most!

While our day introduced us to new experiences our night matched up to it as well. We spent our evenings at 2082, the bar at Hyatt that is one of the best in Dharamshala. An ideal place for an aperitif or after-dinner drink. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, and an adjacent fireplace, 2082 is a comfortable venue offering a wide selection of premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, light munches and an afternoon tea selection. What one must try are the locally infused drinks, that were refreshingly new for our taste buds.

Food – Hyatt Regency Dharamshala Resort offers a variety of locally inspired cuisines which provides authentic Himachali experience as well as the comforting delight of Global cuisine.  Thym there all-day dining restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and is an ideal setting for family dining through a combination of interactive breakfast buffets and thoughtfully curated à la carte menus for lunch and dinner.

The resort features a ‘Home Cinema’ that can accommodate up to 15 persons at one go, delivering an intimate audio-visual experience. On our last night at the property, I enjoyed a dose of ZNMD with my friends and couldn’t have asked for a better end to the holiday.

The Switch Fix Co

I was looking for Hemp based products online when I discovered Switch Fix Co. I had a brief conversation with the team who then asked my skin and scalp concerns amd suggested a few products accordingly.

Blue-tea-ful shampoo bar – Shampoo bar for scalp immunity

Helps with flaky scalp / dandruff – even when exposed to dust and pollution. blue-tea-ful shampoo bar for scalp immunity keeps scalp blues and dandruff away with its antioxidant-rich formulation. Keeps the scalp calm, having a sensitive scalp and facing some serious and flaky issues, the soothing anti-oxidant rich ingredients like blue tea and calendula helped immensely calming my fingers down (you know if you have been constantly scratching your scalp even if you have freshly washed it). It hells improve scalp immunity while cleansing it.

Calm me camellia scalp treatment oil – soothing scalp treatment oil

Frankly it was need of the hour, and when the brand suggested it, I went with their suggestion. I don’t use oil’s very much, they have never suited me. I tried with very little amount and on scalp only, thanks to lockdown i used it religiously and kept it for almost 3 hours, once a week. As promised it did reduces scalp inflammation and helped with the extremely flaky and sensitive scalp. A blend of argan, grapeseed, jojoba and camellia oil work together to keep the scalp nourished

Viva la sativa deep conditioner -nourishing and restorative conditioner

Extremely hydrating, and just what i need post my beautiful shampoo bar. My hair thanks me for treating it right and isn’t frizzy anymore. This deep conditioner is helping me repair the damage hair and restoring it to its natural goodness.

Viva la sativa body butter – deeply nourishing body butter

Who doesn’t love a good hydration? Our skin is constantly exposed to high levels of pollution demands high nourishment, irrespective of the fact that you stay indoors or outdoors. A blend of hemp seed oil, sal butter and mango butter this beauty provides long-lasting nourishment while creating a skin barrier to stop further damage. I use it as part of my sleep ritual, massaging all over my body especially the parts we usually ignore, elbows, knees, back and feet. I love how healthy and smooth they appear in morning

La vie en rosehip face butter – restorative overnight face butter

I will be honest, the brand actually suggested i don’t pick this up as I have a combination skin but I just couldn’t bare to miss the idea of sleep butter and all the hydration it could give. I absolutely love it, I use a very little amount and massage it well, followed by guasha ritual and while most of it gets absorbed, I wipe the excess with my neat hands and well spread it on my neck and shoulders. I use it once in 2 weeks, especially on days I know I am going to get ample of good sleep and let the butter do its magic. it can be tricky to use for people with oily or combination skin, but I guess I found a way and I love who my face glows net day. Ding it as soon as I finish writing this blog!

Vedix – Customized Ayurveda

Ayurveda has been India’s legacy as far as we can think of, it has gone been passed on to us through generations and because of its effectiveness more and more people opt for it in their daily life. Be it skincare, haircare or even in terms of lifestyle. With Vedix they carefully examine your requirement depending on your issues, lifestyle and what bit needs the most attention by just asking you a few questions.

Dr. Zeel Gandhi, Expert Ayurvedic Formulator at Vedix then suggests you right products as per Ayurvedic Tridosha Theory. The three doshas are Vata (Air & Ether), Pitta (Fire) and Kapha (Water and Earth). The simple meaning of dosha is ‘defect’, but in Ayurvedic context, a dosha simply defines the weakness or vulnerability of the particular nature of a person. In other words, it maps out ‘what’s most likely to go wrong’ with a person, and the treatment that should follow.

For my Hair: Post my virtual examination i was suggested a 3 step hair regime (oil, shampoo & serum ) care routine for my hair fall situation. All the products are paraben and sulfate free, gentle cleanser that helps maintain pH balance of my scalp and leaves it healthy and rejuvenated, the hair serum is non greasy and absorbs quickly. they also send you a well described card that shows you exactly how to use the products and also a planner to plan your regime for effective results.

For my Skin: I received a 3 step regime that includes Vedix cleanser, serum and moisturizer. The no foam cleanser helps with getting rid of excessive oil and dirt without disrupting skins pH level and leaves it fresh and clean. the serum helps with target areas to prevent hyperpigmentation and also over time and use lighten dark spots and tighten skin with regular use. the custom made moisturizer keep the skin hydrated and glowing, i use t before my make up, part of my am and pm routine and it has definitely mad my skin more supple.

It is a subscription based service where you can choose a plan for a month, 3 or even 6 months where you will receive the box with required every month. so get started, and take your test here – https://vedix.com/

Itmenaan Estate, Binsar Himalayas

The sleepy region of Binsar is one of the scenic places of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Perched at an
elevation of 2420 meters, Binsar is known for offering spell-binding views of the majestic Himalayan
peaks such as Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Panchachuli, and Kedarnath. The main attraction of
Binsar is the 300 kms of majestic and panoramic view of Himalayan peaks from Binsar Zero point.
This compact hill town is encircled by the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary which serves as a habitat for the rare
animals, birds and flower species. Since the place is wrapped up in thick foliage, it is undoubtedly the
best place for experiencing adventurous hiking, camping and nature walks.

I stayed at ‘Itmenaan Estate’ that is no less of a dream at this moment for anyone who loves a true escape in nature. Set in a peaceful rural setting near Binsar in the Kumaon Himalayas. The 10-acre resort includes virgin pine, oak and rhododendron trees; terraced fields laden with seasonal fruits and vegetables; and to top it all, a small private perennial natural spring. Offering panoramic views of the Himalayas that include the majestic Nanda Devi, the 100-year-old traditional Kumaoni style stone house in the resort has been painstakingly restored. Near to this house there are
two independent cottages, Pine cottage (single story) and Deodar cottage (double story) built in traditional style.
It is as beautiful in the day as in night where you can witness thousands of stars shining unmitigated by mechanical lights. The warm hospitality of the staff at the estate is attentive and easily available be it hot bag late at night or a coffee early in the morning. Even though the are around they simply blend into the background so as to give you the impression that you’re truly all on your own in this lovely estate.

The cottages are styled like a traditional Kumaoni stone house, however, it has been refurbished to include all modern conveniences and luxuries as well. All of them feature sunbaked brick walls, golden lighting, and large full-length windows. The cottages are all surrounded by trees and flora on all sides. The Bathroom construction at the resort near
Binsar is a stunning example of traditional local architecture that involves stacking local stones one above the other without using any cementing material in a ‘dry stack’, locally called ‘kori chinai’. Large bathrooms, with a glass roof to allow sun light to come in, are fitted with all modern fixtures and have running hot and cold water at all times. You can say it’s arguably one of the best bathrooms in the

Food at Itmenaan Estate are a mix of delicious and well thought out recipes that range from traditional Kumaoni, regular North Indian, to dishes from the Western world. Specialty meals, choicest ingredients and stunning scenery – this is how we define dining at Itmenaan Estate. They use fresh, seasonal produce either from our own organic farms or sourced locally, with seasonally changing menus designed around what is currently available.

Lounge : The main lounge at the Estate is centrally located and consists of a cozy dining area with a few
books to keep company. A perfect place to just laze around or read a book or just relax with family and
friends. The only Television in the estate is in the lounge (none in rooms)

Sarovar Premiere, Jaipur

Just 7 km from Jaipur Airport, this beautiful new property is a great option for people who like to get a taste of luxury under budget, the beautifully done hotel stands out with its beautiful exterior glitzy entrance that looks classy with whole white, gold, and copper look, that is carried throughout the property. Sarovar Premiere, offers a choice of rooms and suites, facilitated with luxurious interiors and amenities that promise you a splendid stay experience.

I stayed at Sarovar Primer for a day but the sheer spaciousness of my room felt luxurious. The meals were served in the room on request. The one most soul satisfying meal i had was a filling Indian breakfast that was absolutely delightful and in the comfort of my living room. The hotel houses a fine dining multi-cuisine restaurant, an intimate rooftop restaurant, and a bar that is designed keeping the young crowd in mind. They have a luxurious pool, and facilities such as doctor on call, flexible check-in check-out, and travel desk that adds to making your stay an excellent one.

Tooka Restobar – Tooka is an outsourced bar at the hotel premises. The cold winter evening, electric fire heaters and a beautiful glass house, which had some indoor seating but primarily the bar area lights up the entire area. Some signature cocktails under the open sky, good music and food that warms up your soul, Tooka was definitely an incredible evening.

Nestled amidst an ambient setting, yet close to the airport, railway station and bus station, Sarovar Premiere, Jaipur, is an apt choice for those seeking luxury and convenience.

the Art of ayurveda with ‘Sadhev’

Sadhev’s concept of Ayurveda is a way of life that brings about a synchrony among body, mind and soul . By elegantly pouring the science of Ayurveda into every creation giving birth to the art of life, art of living – the art of Ayurveda itself.

I love Ayurveda, and the more I inculcate it in my daily life, the more i see the power of it. There is also a sense of satisfaction that i am not using any chemicals, not using products that are harmfully tested and most of coming close to nature but by bit.

SADHEV ROSE WATER

The existence of rose water go way back from queens to Greek goddesses everyone used it, and rankly it is the single most easy to use product accessible to all. It hydrates, is handy, suits all skin types, and mostly helps keep you fresh with just a spray. Sadhev’s Rose Water is a sweet fusion of handpicked centifolia roses and the essence of a 200 year old ancestral wisdom steamed, distilled and bottled.

How I use- I constantly have this in my bag (for a quick spray) or right by my dressing mirror. It’s the first thing I use post cleansing, as rose water is a great toner and helps absorb your skincare routine much better. I also use it post make up to let it all set and give some hydration to my skin for a quick glow.

Sadhev Nalpamaradi Tailam

The ever so beguiling queens from the Pandalam dynasty were believed to illuminate their faces with the potion extracted out of the barks of 4 different trees carefully blended with Turmeric, Sesame and Vetiver. Sadhev’s Nalpamaradi Tailam is a pre shower oil, a blend of essence of 4 tree barks with a 200 year old ancestral wisdom to give the full body a glow.

How i use- I love oils, nothing hydrates a dry skin better. I light some incense sticks and do my own spa ritual at home with this Nalpamaradi Tailam from Sadhev, massage all over the body for 10 minutes and leave it for 15 minutes , I wash it off with some home made ubtan (I recommend not to use soap, unless you have to get dressed and step out), moisturize, wear my satin pajamas and take a relaxing nap.

Sadhev Sunscreen SPF 30

This by far is my favorite product from the Sadhev. As important as it is to use sunscreen, it is exactly that difficult to find the right one. This is the perfect sunscreen for me, the texture is undeniably addictive (it feels like satin and no matter how much rush you are in, I bet you will slow done for this) no white cast, absorbs like magic, non-greasy and an ayurvedic solution to sunscreen. Sadhev’s sunscreen keeps the skin exceptionally tender and supple all through the day. Its age defying essence protects the delicate texture of the skin, reduces fine lines and blemishes and keeps the skin glowing.

How i use- I use it at least twice daily, one post shower (even if i am indoors) second in afternoon once i wash my face and freshen up. I have also substituted it for my regular primer, it is an excellent base for your make up, almost perfect.

Sadhev Aloe Vera And Saffron Gel With Kumkumadi Thailam

Mughal empress Nur Jahan’s timeless beauty was the constant source of whispered envy in the royal corridors. ‘The light of the world’ as her name suggests was truly a woman of intoxicating loveliness who believed in traditional Persian beauty recipes to keep her skin sensual and glowing. Her daily regimen involved the use of rich ingredients like Saffron and the Green Aloe Vera that grew in her royal gardens. Sadhev’s Aloe Vera and Saffron Gel with Kumkumadi Thailam is a miraculous fusion of Aloe, Saffron and our ancestor’s pure love that gives the skin an exquisite shine and lasting beauty.

Saffron contains vitamins and antioxidants that have an exceptional effect on the skin. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties help soothe skin and gently treat acne. It is a magical skin-lightening agent that gives an everlasting morning glow to the skin. Green Aloe Vera contains antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C that delicately heals dry skin and restores a natural glow. Kumkumadi Thailam is an exotic serum that imparts a golden vedic glow by delicately combining rich ingredients like Saffron, Aloe, Sandal & Vetiver along with the essence of a 200 year old ayurvedic wisdom.

How i Use : I use it every time I have cleansed my face or post a session of face packs. I also use it intensely during summers to clam any irritation on my skin.

Sadhev Kumkumadi Tailam

Saffron was a treasured beauty secret used by Rani Samyukta, Prithiviraj Chauhan’s queen who was known for her intoxicating beauty.  Legend has tales of the queen secretly sourcing a rich and rare ingredient from the valleys of Kashmir. The lovely Red Saffron was used to create a magic potion that she used as part of her nightly beauty ritual. Sadhev’s Kumkumadi Tailam is an exotic night serum that imparts a golden vedic glow by delicately combining rich ingredients like Saffron, Aloe Vera, Sandal and Vetiver along with the essence of a 200 year old Ayurvedic wisdom.

Sadhev’s Kumkumadi Tailam is for those who desire to give a sensual glow to their skin. It is infused with rich therapeutic properties of Saffron and Aloe Vera that enhance the skin tone, diminish scars and fine lines and augment the skin’s complexion delicately.

How i Use : I use it every alternate day as part of my Gua Sha face massage ritual, and let the leftover stay overnight.

Sadhev Herbal Body Lotion

Sadhev’s Herbal Body Lotion is poetry for the skin. It is a bottle of indulgence that carefully repairs and restores dry and rough patches thereby gently hydrating and polishing the skin, leaving it sensually luminous, exceptionally smooth and incredibly desirable. Almond nuts rich in vitamin E nourishes and softens the skin. It also acts as an exceptional anti-ageing agent.

How i use: Sadhev’s Herbal Body Lotion is a miracle cream that softens skin, hydrates it and repairs dry and rough patches. I use it every night post shower before going to sleep and wake up with plump hydrated skin.

Le Dupleix , Pondicherry

Situated in the heart of old French Quarter of Pondicherry,  Le Dupleix was built in the 18th century as the residence of the Mayor of Pondicherry, and stands on one of the most important corners of the French town. The beautiful experience begins right at gate that is topped with perfectly manicured vine leaves. The massive wooden door entrance lead you to heart of the restored building – the courtyard that is surrounded by modern hotel with deep French roots.

Rooms
Every room in this hotel is different! Every detail in each room has been specially thought out and chosen for that room alone, with the end result being a hotel with delightful surprises around every corner. The mix of the modern and the traditional gives much warmth, but at the same time ensures that the hotel is exceedingly comfortable.  It’s no wonder that the Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards listed Le Dupleix as among the three best boutique hotels in India. While the rooms are extraordinary i loved the courtyard the most, giving me a full view of the property, a place where i did a lot of reading in company of 200 (plus) year old mango tree, had all my meals and some great evenings catching up with friends over finest of wine and food.

Food

Le Dupleix and Pondicherry have a very complex, diverse and cosmopolitan culture and they bring it all together, in the menu at Le Dupleix. One of the main things I have noticed over my repetitive visits is that they keep upgrading their menu and are far from boring or old fashioned; so heritage and tradition of Pondicherry is modernized and becomes part of their culture that’s moving forward. Influence of Creole is clearly visible in Le Dupleix’s menu through recipes from New Orleans (which created some of the most exciting Creole dishes) like Gumbo soup and Creole Shrimps & Crab cake. The menu celebrates Japanese cuisine with Miso Glazed Fish & Soba Noodle soup, Classic French dishes like Confit de Poulet & Crêpe Suzette, and presents dishes that stand out like Wild Game Quails & Soft Shell Crabs.

The strongest influence on modern Pondicherry cuisine has been the emphasis on being natural, organic and healthy. At Le Dupleix they are going organic all the way; their rice, wheat, dals, spices and oils are all organic. Fish is fresh from sea, caught by local fishermen and chicken is free range & organic. Also all soups, salads, appetizers and main course dishes have been presented with suggested pairings of International and Indian wines that helped me experience beyond what i knew and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I know as a matter of fact that whenever i return to Pondicherry, i will revisit the property for its lobster night or their in-house Vanilla Ice cream, which by the way is the best vanilla ice cream i have had in my life.
